The Campfire Story of Asher

Every camp has its legends.

At Camp Slashers, the most famous legend is the story of Asher.

Long before the monsters arrived, the camp was known as Camp Asher, named after its founder and head Camp Master. Asher built the camp to be a place for adventure, competition, campfires, and good times.

For years, everything was normal.

Then a group of camp counselors made a terrible mistake.

While exploring the woods, they discovered a strange old book hidden beneath a fallen tree. Nobody knew where it came from, but because camp counselors are known for making poor choices, they opened the book and read several passages aloud.

Almost immediately, strange things began happening around camp.

Creatures appeared in the woods.

Cryptids wandered the trails.

Monsters that should not have existed suddenly did.

Most people would have closed the camp.

Not Asher.

Instead, he introduced a new rule:

Every camper must learn axe throwing.

If monsters were going to be a permanent problem, campers needed to know how to defend themselves. What started as a survival skill quickly became a camp tradition.

As the creatures became bolder, Asher spent his days protecting campers and patrolling the woods with his trusted axe.

Then one night, he encountered a creature unlike any he had faced before.

It was four times the size of Asher, covered in hair, and knocked trees over with one hand.

Asher put up a good fight as campers watched from a safe distance.

Although Asher fought bravely, the creature landed a devastating blow across his face.

The monster vanished into the woods, and Asher never moved.

The camp was heartbroken.

The campers gathered for a funeral and shared stories around a bonfire. In honor of their favorite Camp Master, everyone poured a little beer onto the ground beside his grave.

After all, it had always been his favorite drink.

The next morning, the grave was empty.

No one knows exactly what happened.

Some blame the cursed book.

Some believe the camp itself refused to lose its protector.

Others insist there must be mysterious magical properties hidden inside beer.

Whatever the reason, Asher returned.

The battle had left its mark, so he began covering his face with a burlap mask to avoid frightening young campers. Despite everything that happened, he remained exactly who he had always been: the guardian of the camp.

His axe became his weapon against the creatures.

His beer became the source of his legendary strength.

And his mission remained unchanged.

Protect the campers.

Today, the monsters still roam the woods, and because of the deadly threats around every corner, the camp counselors coined the name Camp Slashers. But campers are safe; they know Asher continues to stand watch.

Because no matter how many monsters appear…

Nobody is canceling summer camp.
